Summer Reunion Cake

Some good old friends of mine were planning a summer reunion formal dinner for July 10th and Andy messaged me about needing a cake for the reunion party. Then I met up with Arnell on a dinner to discuss how they would like the cake to be. He invited me to the party but I had to respectfully decline the invitation due to my cousin’s birthday party that same night. But, I was very happy and honored to make their cake. Arnell thought that making a vanilla flavored cake would be best for the majority of the audience there.(Vanilla flavor never fails for the audience)

Andy and Arnell together were a different crowd that I use to hang out with when I was younger (around late high school and early college years). I love them just as much nonetheless and I wish I could hang out more with them. I loved cars back then, especially the ones in the movie Fast and Furious. Andy, myself and a couple of other people use to drive out at night to hang out in parking lots to check out other people's accomplishments in their "moding" of their cars. Then we would head back to Andy's house to hang out there to play video games.

Arnell and I became close friends around that same time. Actually Arnell is everyone's best friend. He's just so friendly, and very easy to get close with. I first met Arnell around High School time when Dance Dance Revolution was popular. We use to have get togethers at his house and during holidays we would make up hiphop dance routines from watching youtube videos, practice and practice for weeks just to give a good show during Christmas and New Year parties. We were good kids, never did drugs and never gotten into trouble. How Fun... those were the days.

It was nice catching up with them with the short time that I had. They liked the picture frame “touch” that I thought of for top tier of the cake and some commented on the flowers that I hand made. What’s a reunion cake if you don’t have everyone’s faces on it?

Cindy's Cake

Who says birthday cakes have to be made with complex ingredients? My stepsister loves my chocolate loaf cake and she would not have it made any other way. Her birthday celebration was this past Sunday and so I wanted to make her, her favorite cake. Since it was just going to be a small celebration of eight people, I figured that I would just keep the "loaf shape" of it and keep the cake as original as possible with little additions to it just for decoration. Cindy was so happy that she told everyone she wanted the cake for herself haha. Happy Birthday Cindy! Love ya!

Piggy Cake and Paul Frank Monkey Cake!

So it has been some time since I have last updated this blog. I know some of you have been waiting on this. So much has been going on in my life that I haven't had time and (maybe procrastinated a bit too when I did had the time). Lots of orders have been placed to me and I am so happy that people are thinking of me when they needed a cake! Other than that, I have also had a small vacation and relaxing time with the love of my life in Las Vegas and had
just recently got back home. Oh how I miss relaxing... Now its back to life and reality!

Anywho, a good friend of mine who I have known for years, since high school (everytime I think "since high school", it makes me feel old haha) had asked me to make a cake for her coworker who's leaving. Girl Thien, (we call her Girl Thien, adding her gender in front of her name because her FiancĂ©’s name is also Thien. How cute right?). Thien (the Girl one...hehe) said that she needed a piggy chocolate flavored cake (to serve about 35 to 40 people) because her coworker was leaving and they were throwing her a going away party. She insisted on a butter cream cake without fondant. =)

I graciously made a cake that could feed more than 40 people and the cake turned out really heavy haha. When she picked it up, I had to show her the cake before she took off, and she loved it. Thanks for thinking of me when you needed a cake girl. =)

Ada had asked me if I could make a custom cake for her like a month in. Apparently, her friend loves Paul Frank Monkey, so Ada wanted a Paul Frank Monkey cake. She needed the cake on the weekend that I had to leave town, but I insisted that I could make it for her if she didn’t mind having it a day early.

Since it’s a Monkey themed cake, it would only be right if I made a flavor cake that goes along with the theme, a banana cake! When I delivered it to her, she was in awe and shock when she saw it. I’m glad you loved the cake Ada! =)

Victor's Birthday Cake

Word of mouth traveled a bit, and a lady had called me to make a birthday cake for her husband who's turning 70. She said she wanted it to look special with a chocolate taste, but anything that I see fit will do. When I delivered the cake, her husband and herself was in awe. They said that they didnt expect something so beautiful haha. I did put a little extra work on their cake just to make it more special. It was worth it in the end to see them happy.

Cheesecake and Macarons!

My good friend Duyet and I have been friends for about ten years and he doesn't really eat sweets. Once in a while he will eat candy (like sour patch kids). If he eats cake, it has to be cheesecake (he loves cheesecake) and ice cream cake. For his birthday, I decided to make Cheesecake for him.

In the past, before I went to culinary school, I've made cheesecakes before. The taste was great but the top would have a huge crack on it. I'm all about presentation and I couldnt bring myself to give it to people when it didnt look good. So what I did was, I invited friends and we would gobble it all up hehe. Since I learned the correct techniques for baking/cooking, the cheesecakes that I make now are all gorgeous! Haha, I know I sound really proud of it but I am! They really come out great.

Anywho, here a couple of pictures of my homemade Cheesecake.

If it wasnt for Duyet, I wouldnt have met Ann. She's one of the sweetest people I have ever met and she just recently got married to her husband Tony, who's birthday is the exact same day as Duyet. Both of them celebrated their birthdays together this year, and this Cheesecake was made for them.

Ann and Tony make a wonderful couple. Very outgoing, funny, and sweet. Ann, had asked me to make some Macarons for her to give as gifts. Since strawberries are in season now, I made strawberry flavored macarons. She was extremely happy when she received them. =)
